The 2011 Midwest Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Annual Meeting will be held 5 - 7 August 2011 at the Wilderness Lodge Resort near Lesterville Missouri. The resort's address is Wilderness Lodge Resort, PO Box 90, Lesterville MO 63654. The lodge is located 105 miles from Saint Louis and 85 miles from Cape Girardeau in Southeast Missouri. It sits adjacent to the Black River.
The focus of this meeting is "Successful Training for the Conservation of Midwestern Amphibians and Reptiles". We will be focusing on both manager training and citizen science training. Speakers will be invited concerning both of these topics to share their knowledge and expertise. The goal of this meeting is to share successful training experiences and to begin the process of producing training materials that will be shared with other organizations and individuals interested in amphibians and reptiles conservation.
At this annual meeting, we will also be releasing the new Midwest PARC HMG (Habitat Management Guidelines). The goal of this book is to provide amphibian and reptile habitat management guidelines that are easily understood and practical for resource managers and private landowners to integrate with other management objectives on the landscape. The release of this new HMG will fit well with the theme of this Midwest PARC annual meeting. There will also be an organized field trip on the area to search for amphibians and reptiles and further network with individuals. To learn more about Midwest PARC and the products that have been produced, please visit the Midwest PARC website.
Field trips will be in the nearby Ozarks forests and the Black River floodplain.
Midwest PARC publishes all documents in the standard portable document format (PDF), an ISO standard.
